You are absolutely not too old for an MBA. There are students aged over 36. More important than age is to determine what an MBA might add to your knowledge and experience. If that is worth the investment, I would not bother too much about the rest, especially as long as you are still in your thirties.

I agree, it's a good age to do an MBA. But depending on your professional experience, you could be a good candidate for an EMBA. You should consider the two options, MBA or EMBA, and evaluate what fits best to your profile.

However, considering the fact that an EMBA focusses on people with at least 8 to 10 years workexperience who are already in a management position and considering the fact that the average age for an EMBA is 38, an MBA sounds more logical in this case. Also consider that people at the age of 38 sometimes choose the regular MBA instead of the EMBA if they lack the required basic knowledge. I have quite a few friends who have about 9 tot 10 years experience as a lawyer but who do not have the economic/financial background to make the career switch they wanted. They all chose to do a regular fulltime international MBA (at IESE and INSEAD).

Yes, EMBA is conceived for people with more professional experience than MBA.
A min. of 6 or 7 years is usually required, but most important is the responsibility level: at least 4 years with managerial responsibilities.
That's what I've tried to say, at your age you could already have a profile to go for an EMBA, or as well an MBA, depending on the kind of professional experience you have.

22 is quite young - you'll probably be one of the youngest students in your MBA class. You will be quite young because it's not easy to achieve the required bachelor or equivalent degree before you are 20, as you did obviously.

But it can be a good idea for you in your current career situation, especially if you want to have a career shift. An MBA will give you a lot of new knowledge and interesting business contacts (be careful to you choose the the right program here) opening opportunities to go in a new direction professionally.

It depends where you want to do your MBA. The National University of Singapore, for example, may be okay with that, while top schools definetely will reject you because of your insufficient work experience. I myself would not recommend you to go for MBA now - you won't learn from the MBA course as much now as you would learn after five years of experience.

I agree with you, Vasilijs, generally speaking you should do an MBA once you have worked more, in order to fully bebefit from the program. Sorry for not being clear enough in my post. MBA is a program for youog professionals with maybe 3-4 years work experience, so you work epxerience would be too light.

I still did encourage Sunnycoudyday to go for an MBA because I think in your personal situation, looking for a career shift, it could make sense - execptionally....

The general motivation at the moment is to finish MBA by 21 and join an MNC by 21.2 and become the CEO by 24 and retire by 25 and enjoy rest of the life (if there is anything left!) . Not a bad plan, huh?

Oh yes, when we talk about planing, I happened to see a "Well planned life" spreadsheet of an youngster which included items such as "Number of Shoe Laces needed" with cost estimation & contingency included!

Well, I guess everybody is entitled to be as ambitious as they want with their goals. But I hate to break it to these youngsters: if you join an MBA when you're 21 and have no work experience, when you get out, you don't have great chances of getting hired, much less becoming a CEO in a couple of years.

There are lot of working people who do the MBA for the professional growth.. you are not old as you are thinking about it..

Does anyone know about something about LGBT intake in Asia's b-schools, especially in Singapore, China and HK?

My guess is that the schools in Asia won't have the same level of LGBT outreach or student activities as those in the US.

Maybe reach out to Reaching Out - the LGBT MBA student association? I'm not sure if they have representation in Asia, but that would at least be a good place to start.

There is no specific age to do an MBA But as an worldwide trend people mostly prefer to do MBA when they are young or already into studies .Though myself being an MBA I have seen people who are above the age of 50 and doing MBA ?s so there is hardly a matter of age when it comes to studies.
