Curtin University of Technology for Cleantech?

Hey all,

I just came across a school called Curtin University of Technology in Perth - it seems like a decent school, AMBA accredited, and interestingly, has an oil and gas focus.

Question: do you think the curriculum could be adapted to a career in cleantech? That's my background, and think there's a lot of overlap, but am not sure.

And compared to a school like Queensland University of Technology, which I am also interested in, is Curtin competitive?

The Curtin programme is really focussed on extractive process manufacturing. I don't see anything there similar to the specialised courses you'd get in a clean tech MBA. A generalist MBA would be better than one in oil.

What about AGSM? I am interested in a career in clean energy as well. And it looks like AGSM is one of the few business schools in Australia that has a related student club - it's a renewable energy/sustainability club...

Also considering UNC Kenan-Flagler but it's a bit far away and I don't know if it's worth it if I plan on coming back to Australia anyway.

You're probably better off staying in Australia, even if the program doesn't necessarily have a concentration in clean energy. AGSM is a great choice - since it's ranked by the FT.

Since none of these programs really offer any clean-tech specific curriculum, I would narrow it by industry and geography to widen the potential networking you could do at each school.

For instance, wind power is becoming important in South Australia - whereas there are a lot of solar startups in and around Sydney.

AGSM's a great school, but I wouldn't use this club as the deciding factor. It's not very active - it has a Facebook page that hasn't been updated since last August...
