Experience?

Hello all

My family and I have recently moved to Zaragoza, Spain. I am looking into doing my MBA in Spain. However, having a family at a young age has not given me the opportunities for the positions I would have liked. I have 2 years experience in unrelated fields. I am interested in applying to Carlos III, EADA, UPF or BMI. Mostly for financial reasons. Since IE, ESADE and IESE are out of my price range.

Are there any other fairly reasonably priced schools with accreditation, that do not require relavant professional experience?

Any comments would be appreciated.

The only accredited schools in Spain are IE, ESADE, IESE, EADA, and Carlos III, so given your financial possibilities you should probably apply to EADA and/or Carlos III. Having said that, 2 years of work experience is a bit short and you may have problems with acceptance in those accredited programs. Why don't you consider waiting for 1-2 more years. You can gain more experience and then apply. I'm sure there are non-accredited programs in Spain where you'll be able to get in with 2-year experience, but I think it's a pity.

I would like to finish my masters now while I have the time. Since I'll only be here for about 30 monthes. It is different here than in the states since you cant just go from undergrad to graduate school without experience. However all the jobs I want to do require experience to get them. So how do you get the experience to begin with. Its quite a catch 22.

Hello James,
Here as well you can go from undergrad to grad without experience. This is valid for any kind of master degree, you'll just continue your studies after your bachelor.

MBA is just a very special case, because it targets specifically young professionals already having some wrok experience.

Admissions depts at quality programs look at a prospective applicant from many different angles at once. Prior experience is valued based on an estimation of how much you will enrich of the learning of your fellow students. There are a few MBA students with little to no experience in all top programs.

Your background sounds unique and that is always a positive.

Focus on your objectives in the application. Describe how your experience to date plus the MBA will help you achieve your goals.
