The aviation industry in the UAE doesn't hire MBAs from top-tier programmes. They are looking at much cheaper schools, normally ones that attracts talent from India and Pakistan (Bradford, Coventry, Leicester, Mumbai).

MBAs from IESE and HEC are not so common in the UAE, and they tends to be in consulting firms or finance (A.T. Kearney, Delta Partners, Booz & Company, Bain & Company, Citi, McKinsey & Company, The Boston Consulting).

PS It's really the big Indian and Pakistani schools which get students placed into the UAE.

I also appreciate for you to mention few other options. I have not heard about these school in Korea, and since some Indian and Pakistani schools place many student in UAE, I really reconsider my career goal with these two schools.

I am looking closer the MBA rotation programs. I did received the company lists which offer the program and hire MBA graduates from the these schools, I still confused which to choose.

I have heard that IESE is strong at finance and consulting and HEC is strong at Industry. When I checked the job placement, about 50% of graduates are placed in Industry sector, so it is about the same.

Is there much difference in companies which come to on-campus recruiting?

Can you share any other advice about the quality of school career service, alumni network and job placement?

I am bit worried that the career service in HEC is not that helpful, but I am not sure it is true.

I can't think of other options, beyond you clarifying your career goals. If you want to work in aviation in the UAE, then attend the schools I mentioned. if you want some other MBA role in the UAE, attend the other schools I mentioned.

If you want to work in the west, both IESE and HEC are excellent. They both publish detailed placement reports. Using LinkedIn as described in the post I mentioned you see see where IESE and HEC alumni are concentrated: in France, Spain, UK, US and Switzerland; in consulting, finance and ICT; etc.They have excellent careers services but they cannot get you into roles that don't exist. Target the schools with the most alumni in the roles you are interested in.

Are you an Indian? On-campus recruitment is really different in India from the rest of the world.

Ah! I think the issue is that most MBA roles in the UAE are for Indians who fit easily into the bureaucratised Arab businesses. Top tier MBA roles in the UAE tend to be held by people with MBAs from the western schools with the best connections there (Manchester, London, Insead, Strathclyde, Hult, Bradford which have part-time programmes there) or regional leaders (AUB, AUC, Mumbai, Karachi). I don't think there's much hiring of non-UAE citizens directly from full-time MBA programmes.

I think the best MBA route for someone in the UAE is to do a part-time MBA with one of these western schools, with the goal of moving into consulting or IT (Booz, McKinsey, Microsoft, Nokia, Cisco., Kearney, Wyman). If aviation in the UAE was really your focus then I suggest you think about either sales, operations or fiance routes and then see which schools might fit that. Emirates seems to have many MBAs from Bradford, Coventry, Mumbai and London Business School, presumably in very different roles.

Just FYI: Toulouse has an MBA program in aerospace that's specifically focused on the aviation industry. It's not a bad school - it's triple-accredited. Not as highly ranked as HEC or IESE, but the specialized curriculum could help you with your goals.

I'm not sure about its placements in UAE though, so you'd want to ask about that.
