ESB is not a real University, but a University of Applied Science. That means it does not focus on research, but on practical orientation and on the needs of the companies of the region where the school is located. That may not be bad, however, ESB is far away from being a key player on the German or the European MBA market. Among the group of Universities of Applied Science, ESB is an excellent choice, but it can't keep up with Universities like Mannheim, WHU or Goethe.

If you do not know any German, it will be hard to find a job on the German market. A sound knowledge of this language is a must for a job in nearly any German, Austrian or Swiss company, even if English is the corporate language. And please beware of the fact that German is a much more difficult language than English or Spanish. It is nearly impossible to get fluent within one year.

If you are interested in a good program in Germany, any of the three mentioned by JohnnyL would be good based on their reputation. I have heard good things about both Mannheim and WHU.

As a student at the Goethe Business School, I can say from experience that it is a top notch international program that is going places. We recently returned from our foreign residency at ISB in Hyderabad which is one of three foreign residencies. The Goethe program has an international focus which is taught in English and appropriate whether you want to stay in Germany or relocate after completion. I would recommend the program to anyone interested in studying in Germany.

Unfortunately I do not know much about the language levels you mentioned. It is important to have good written and oral skills, i.e. you should understand everything which is said on German TV, you should be able to take part in discussion, to give a fluent presentation or to write a business letter without making too many mistakes.

Concerning career services don't expect too much from schools like ESB. I don't think that they even have an own department for career services. This is what you can only expect from the top German schools which have already been mentioned by Mesix and me. I also don't know which companies recruit from ESB but I suppose mainly SMEs from the Stuttgart area. However, many German companies like graduates of Universities of Applied Science as their salary level is below the level of university graduates.
