MBA from Mannheim Business School

Hi,

While doing Google search, I came across this site. I read couple of post regarding MBA in Germany and found invaluable information.

I'm an Indian MBA aspirant. I have nearly 4 years of IT experience in SAP products. Presently I am working as a SAP consultant for Indian company but I worked 3 months in Germany and in France. Now I'm looking for an MBA program so that I can switch my career from technologies to management, and get an opportunity to work in SAP Germany (or in others company). Please let me know which school, in Germany, is best for International students in terms of education, job placement, and scholarship.

Also, I have not taken GMAT but I booked the test date in first week of March-10. Do I have to score 600+ in GMAT?

My target B-Schools are WHU and Mannheim Business School.

HI there,

I can assure you you have already made the right pre-decision. Mannheim and WHU are considered to be the best schools in Germany. If you include German speaking Switzerland, I would also have a look at St. Gallen.

I got this informaion from Mannheim Business School's admission councelor...

1. 3 years of exp.
2. GMAT Must (>650)
3. TOEFL for International students for Visa.
4. Leadership potential.
5. Bechalor degree.

I hope this information, especially GMAT score, will help other people .

HI there,

Hi. I'm an early candidate(1.5 yrs of work-ex) with a high GMAT(750). I'm quite keen in doing my MBA in Germany. However i have a couple of questions
1. Which programmes in Germany prefer young applicants or in which schools do i stand a favourable chance of accepatance.
2. What are the job prospects(Buy-side finance) in Germany, especially for internations.

I'm an mechanical engineer from Eastern Europe with three years managerial work experience in a MNC. I speak English and some basic German.

Which German MBA program would you suggest to land a job in management in Germany/Europe?

Hi Heinz

On top of the 2 schools suggested by "JohnnyL", I would also suggest:

HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management (AACSB accredited):
GMAT minimum 550 - the average is 610
application deadline: non EU citizens - April 1st, EU citizens July 1st

In my humble opinion, the programs with the strongest reputations within Germany are the following:
- Mannheim
- HHL
- Goethe Business School
- WHU
- ESMT

EBS would belong in the second tier with TU Munich, and GISMA.

With your background, you might also have a look at Collège des Ingénieurs (CDI) programs in Munich and Stuttgart.

I agree with you concerning Mannheim, Goethe, and WHU but I would not rate HHL and ESMT so high. Both are known as show-offs in Germany with no or little research reputation (like EBS). So my ranking would be:

1. Mannheim
2. WHU
3. Goethe

Second tier:
GISMA
TU Munich (good university, but do they offer a fulltime MBA???)
HHL

Third tier:
ESMT
EBS
smaller colleges
