MBA Inputs

Dear All,

I am writing in this forum with hopes to gain insights from your expertise before I take the next stpes in my career.

A brief about my profile:
- 7+ years of IT experience in SAP Business Warehouse
- Pharmaceutical (Finance), Media Sales and Distribution, Product Development and Logistics Industry experience
- Technical Application owner for the Global Financial Reporting System
- Highly Customer oriented and focussed role
- NO GMAT Score
- Willing to stay in Switzerland for a longer period
- Basic German language skills (need to work on it more)
- Indian citizen (31 years old) living in Switzerland on work permit

I have been thinking in past months what should I do to in order to do something different other than my usual routine work.
Suggetions come to me that my profile is ONE dimensional and I should achieve some certification or degree to be multi-dimensional guy who could fit in industry not just in one area.
So, comes the thought to do an MBA????
I understand am no genius and sadistically wasnt bothered to even try for GMAT which could have helped me land with some good Business Schools.
Putting all this aside....I am still excited to do MBA and look forward to your advice and help here...I would prefer to do part-time MBA, however, open for suggestions.
Given my profile...what the experts believe here that what I am good for and what should be the next logical steps to expand the horizon for next role?

I think this is the sort of very large set of issues that you need to speak with people about, in depth. There are some great MBAs in Switzerland and Germany, and I think you might fit HSG and the top German schools (ESMT, HHL, Mannheim, WHU).

However, I think there are some greater questions about direction. What will excite you and nourish your soul in the future? Those are the more important questions, and not ones that will be answered here.

I do wonder if perhaps a year off to learn German and really allow yourself to fall in love with Switzerland might be just as effective as an MBA.
I think this is the sort of very large set of issues that you need to speak with people about, in depth. There are some great MBAs in Switzerland and Germany, and I think you might fit HSG and the top German schools (ESMT, HHL, Mannheim, WHU).

In terms of future goals, the intentions are to acquire Leadership roles and be close to the Strategy irrespective of IT or Business. If am not wrong MBA would help me nourish my Business skills to be able to think in line with the Business world and to club it together with my IT experience.

What would be your thoughts on MBA programs from FHNW and La Salle University? (just because they seem to match my part-time course constraint).
Also, an eMBA would be a viable option to choose or you say to go for flu-time?

I can't really recommend these rather marginal programmes when Switzerland has some top-tier executive programmes. Aim for the best cohort and the best experience you can. La Salle, at least, has the respected AACSB accreditation.
