Rsm and some other doubts

Hello everyone,

I would explain briefly my situation in order to collect some other opinions and suggestions (precious when you a bit confused).
I am 29 yo living and working in Russia as Head of import office, I am Italian and i can speak Italia, Russian and fluenty and got some knowledge (i can understand) of French.

Since I am not satisfied of my carrer and location where i live, I would like to change its subject and working in finance (finance because my knowloedge of Russian culture and language could be an assett in a moment when Russian investors are present everywhere), and in this sense the idea of attending a MBA should serve as leverage for the double purpose; moreover, in this sense, the Mba in RSM could be represent a good option (the economy of Netherlands is doing well and unemployement is still far from some other European country) to study and live there.

Premising that i read the interesting post of Duncan about the importance of the national language, I just think that Netherlands (3 weeks ago have been there to visit the school) is one of the country together with Scandinavian ones where it's possible to full work in english.

Could you please give your idea about the realization of my double purpose (move back to Europe and change field of carrer to finance) in relation to the educational offers received:

1) Alma laurea Bologna (not bad program for corporate finance and scholarship for a cover-value of 60 % of the entire fee, but unfortunately the not wide appeal and the crisis in Italy is making me think about the option)

2) Rsm Mba with track in corporate finance (or double degree Mba finance) that could represent a good option for the reasons above mentioned and clearly for the resonance of the school. The process of recruitment is still going on but hopefully soon will get some news

3) Msc in Corporate finance and Banking in SDA bocconi (Bocconi is a good university but a Master Executive and without internship, in my opinion, is not exactly what I need to reach my purpose)

Other possible schools that I am taking in consideration are:

INSEAD and IMD that starting in January can still give the opportunity to apply.

Any suggestion is welcome since i have to decide asap.

This is very demanding: you want to change role, function, country and industry all in one move. Insead, London Business School (MBA or MiF), HEC, IESE and ESADE are really the only European schools which can deliver that reliably. If you were an experienced hire, already working in finance at a senior level, then a Dutch role might work. But there are enough Dutch-speaking MBAs to fill entry-level roles.
This is very demanding: you want to change role, function, country and industry all in one move. Insead, London Business School (MBA or MiF), HEC, IESE and ESADE are really the only European schools which can deliver that reliably. If you were an experienced hire, already working in finance at a senior level, then a Dutch role might work. But there are enough Dutch-speaking MBAs to fill entry-level roles.

Which do u believe is the best in terms of finance
program of the mentioned?

I just heard that the spanish ones will not really provide for
an international backgrounde since they fit more for national spanish student in terms of placement and post Mba job offers.

London Business School and IESE are probably the best of those schools for you, considering your current role. Insead is great, but its compressed format means that you'd miss out on the electives and internships possible in a two year format. ESADE and HEC are also strong options.

PS Spain is a challenging market, but if you look at the placement reports you'll see that those top schools are successful.

(on my specific case) about less expansive universities in Europe.

I don't think that other options will be likely to meet your goal. The alternative would be a two year commitment: first an intensive language course (http://intt.uva.nl/dutch-for-foreigners/intensive-dutch-courses/intensive-daytime-courses.html) and then an MSc in management at somewhere like RSM.

Consider also IMD in your target school. They may not be excellent in Finance, but the global reputation of the school will undoubtedly help.

The IMD MBA is actually not a bad option for this candidate, given that it ranks at the top of the FT ranking in terms of international mobility.

However, language may still be an issue, but Italian and French would help. But you're right, IMD generally doesn't place very many grads in finance, for this field, INSEAD would be much better.
