My ROI Calculation:

1. I will be doing a 10 month internship during my MBA program and so I think this will pay quite a decent sum of money.
2. I have the option to stay back in Luxembourg for 2 years after my studies, so I think I can pay back a good sum of money during this time.
3. The alumni that I met finished all his MBA study loan within 1.5 years of his MBA completion, so I think that is possible if we work here.
4. Fees is not that high compared to other schools 29000 Euros for the whole program.

So, overall I think it is a good investment!!

The alumni I met was a random sample. I had applied to Ryerson University in Canada, and one more famous business school, I don't want to write the name now because my application is considered for a scholarship.

Is your alumni sample one alumnus? How could you get a more representative idea of what outcomes you could expect?

If you got into the best MBA program you could, what would the outcomes be? Surely you'd earn more from a ranked MBA program, so much more after a lifetime, to make the low fees or a scholarship unimportant.

Based on your feedback, I am trying to see if I can meet some other students also from SHU. The alumni that I met was a random sample.

The Maths in the ROI is an approximate calculation based on the salaries in Luxembourg and the Internship salary offered. Brand and Rankings are good but only to an extent. You can understand the reality only from alumni - What impact has been created in their life and where they want to move ahead. Also seeing what job opportunities the economy has, how quickly can you get the returns on the investment.

At the end of the day, I think we have to make a good judgement based on facts and trust our instinct.

Alumni is plural. If you spoke to one alumnus that is not a sample: that is a data point. The SHU program is aimed at people who are already working in Lux. The number of full-time students on the internship track is very small: those are the people to assess the outcomes of, not the people who already have local connections (unless you are a local).

Thanks for the correction!!! But I think I mentioned before that the alumnus was from Chile and he was a new student with no connections initially. I still do have some business contacts though. SHU program is aimed at international students and they will apply for my student visa. They have a part-time program which is aimed at people working in and around Luxembourg. As discussed with you earlier, I will try to find one more alumnus and see what that person also has to say.

I am pretty sure that the two groups of students are taught together.

I talked to a couple of current batch and alumnus and got the following feedback, (2011, 14, 15, 16)

1. The program is really good.
2. The class is quite interactive and practical, as most of the professors have academic and industry knowledge and are still at Boards and Senior Management positions of companies.
3. The school is very focused on Business related courses, so if we are interested in a big student and party life, this is probably not the place.
4. The 9 month internship can be substituted with an Entrepreneurship project, where we have to work with one of the Incubators and develop our plan and product.
5. The program is quite intensive along with the job during 9 months in between the MBA program.
6. I don't know what it is , but many said they learned a lot from dynamic business course and it was intense!! were they developed products for P&G, Diageo...

Students on any MBA would say the same thing. They have nothing to compare it to.

Duncan, thanks for all your comments but some of your posts seems to be a joke! You put a valid point long back and that is why I took the effort to enquire more about the university but now what you are saying clearly doesn't help.

I'm sorry you don't find this helpful, but the point I am making is not humourous. Managers often make bad judgements because they look only for that that confirms their preference or past choices.

I am also joining this year, got an admit. 8 years of exp., GMAT - 680, GPA - 3.8/4 and Bachelors in Risk Management. I saw the post and decided to write. I am convinced about the school. I visited the campus last month and attended one of the SHU meetups.
I got a Scholarship and I have a couple of reasons to join - Luxembourg is quite a good place to live, raise my kids and the Finance sector is doing well in the middle of global economic crunch. All courses were in the direction of my expectations and the work permit after studies is definitely going to help me stay back in the country.

When I went for the meetup, I had a very good feeling and that a huge family was together discussing about their plans, their family, their experiences , and it gave me a true meaning of MBA and relationships beyond education. Many of them started their own successful companies. So overall I had a great feeling.

Also, I visited the other American and European schools I got admitted to, but SHU was definitely something different.

Sometimes even good decisions lead to bad outcomes. If SHU reliably led international students into MBA roles in Luxembourg then it wouldn't it be getting into rankings and not offered at a substantial discount on the same course in the USA? I think it would be very useful to find out how many of last year's full-time international students are working in Luxembourg, and in what sorts of roles.

Am planning for an Full time MBA in SHU or LSB in 2017 intake. It would be great if you can share your views on job opportunities post MBA from SHU or LSB.I would prefer working in Luxembourg post MBA. Also can you please throw some light on the value of MBA from LSB or SHU in Europe as a whole?...

LSB seems to be three Croatian guys in a serviced office, so SHU is the better of the two. At least it has the right to issue degrees.

And this has helped me make my decision. What a strange seeming school, LSB has a very professional website but the website doesn't have a lot of depth.
