Has anybody studied tourism with an apprenticeship? Any experience with programs? I want to get into the tourism business in southeast Asia, but I'm seeing more schools now in Europe and North America, like Paris, Switzerland and Cornell. It might be a small sector for an MBA, but is there any chance someone can recommend a good choice?

This seems to be a healthy field, especially in Asia, where I hear the industry is booming. An industry rep told me that there were hotel chains in China that would recruit entire classes of hospitality MBA students from Europe to staff new operations.

A lot of the top European and American hospitality schools (ESSEC, GWU, Cornell, Exeter) are building relationships with business in Asia. But there are a few schools in the region that are also developing their own programs (like Nanyang.)
Do you already have experience in the industry? It seems like a lot of programs admit students with previous experience - however, this is not always the case.

Thanks for the advice. Good to know Asia is booming! I'm actually from Australia. I have a degree in Tourism/Hospitality and about three years experience working in a resort. So maybe is more wise to do the MBA in Europe and build the relationship with Asia through the school, as opposed to jumping into an Asian MBA. I'll take a look at Nanyang anyway, and also the European schools. ESSEC could be interesting.
