Best MBA School for Consulting in MBB

Hello everybody!

I am thinking about my future career plans and I want to start short listing schools now. I aim to apply to start next year (fall 2019).

I work in a boutique consulting firm as an analyst. I've worked in the firm since when I graduated from college in 2013.

My goal is to go into an MBB firm, and to do that I would like to do an MBA.

Firstly, I am not sure whether to do a program in the US (I'm American) or if going abroad will give me more leverage. Although my long term goals do not involve working abroad, I think this would be rewarding for a couple years, so I'm not discounting that.

I was thinking about maybe applying to 5 schools total, something like:

-Harvard
-Yale
-Columbia
-Insead
-LBS

But I am open to suggestions. Harvard seems to be a common school among people I know in the MBB firms but I also know people who went to Vanderbilt, NYU, Duke, and other schools so I am not sure what the *most* common MBAs really are.

Take a look at https://find-mba.com/lists/top-business-school-by-speciality/top-business-schools-for-consulting and stay in the USA so you can get an easy internship. Replace Insead and LBS with Darden and Kellogg unless you have an MBA from another top school in your firm who will be a referee for you.

I can only speak from a UK perspective but I have talked to grads from Oxford, Cambridge, and Warwick who all work in MBB. I think it's funny that LBS alone always comes up because the firms clearly recruit from beyond just that school.

It's because LBS is a very reliable recruiting funnel for these firms. The three combined recruit 100+ students per year from LBS. It's like one-quarter of the class.

Applicants know this, and LBS knows that the applicants know this.
