Is Birmingham generally simply the better choice? I'll be pursuing an MBA in Marketing and it's come down to these two as my main options. Any points where Bradford might offer something Birmingham doesn't?

I guess it's all depending on your goals. Full time, Bradford has been falling for a decade while Birmingham has been rising for 20 years.

If your budget is limited and you want a marketing position, you might be better off taking an MSc in marketing at a better school (Cranfield, ESCP, Imperial, Lancaster, Warwick etc). If you want to work in the UK, I'd pick Imperial.

Thanks Duncan. Is this because generally a MSc in Marketing is more highly regarded in the field than an MBA specialised in it? Or mainly a practical reason related to budget, as you mention?

It's because a highly relevant MSc from an excellent school with great resources is more powerful in the UK than an MBA from a lower but still good school.

You read my mind, Stuart. It's important to remember that one-year UK MBAs are even more compressed than one-year MBAs in the US or mainland Europe. Often you'll have very limited ability to specialise. Even on the Birmingham MBA, which has a marketing pathway, that pathway is just two courses. So, a UK MBA really is a general management degree rather than a specialization degree.
