When I attended the part time MBA, the program was 3 years in length (2.5 years with lectures/assessments/exams + the last half for the final project). At that time, I used to have 2, 3 or even 4 study topics per semester. I remember that at the end of each semester (end of May - beginning of June / end of November - beginning of December) I had to write 2 exams, most of the time. However, these are not the only assessments you have to pass. For each course you have to submit a first essay/mini-project till you go to the f2f workshops (usually in the middle of the semester). At the end of each workshop you have to present a group project (examination status) and at the end of the semester you have the written exams, as I have mentioned above. Recently, AMBS reduced the length of its part time MBA to 2.5 or even 2 years (?), therefore the number of topics per semester will be higher, I think, assuming that the entire number of courses is unchanged. Also, an important aspect to be mentioned is that most of the written exams are of open book type.
