Edinburgh vs NUS

Hello.

I got an offer from University of Edinburgh Business School (UEBS), while I am waiting for an interview for the same programme at NUS.

I'm not sure whether I will live in the UK for the long run. I plan to return to Asia after working for a year or two in the UK, probably Thailand or Singapore, because my family business and my parent are in my hometown (Myanmar).

Should I go to UEBS or wait for NUS and try my luck?

The UK doesn't really fit with the career plans you have outlined on other threads. Unless there is some opportunity cost that you have not mentioned, a school in the region makes more sense.

I was a bit influenced by UEBS great ranking on FT ranking list and NUS MIM curriculum that has no compulsory courses, but electives only, which has been a somehow controversial issue leading to uneasy employability for int'l students slightly because of that, told by some alumni. However, some alumni mentioned that the programme was great.

The NUS MiM requires an undergraduate business degree. Why would it need a core curriculum?

I can see how it is now thanks to you, sir. Very few current students have been mentioning that they are not satisfied with that flow, and I was very surprised to hear that until now

In that sort of setting, a "core" would basically be a socialisation tool to mix up students specialising in different functions. I think its a great value proposition to allow total freedom on course selection.
