How would it affect my MBA application if I'm unable to show proof of work or work experience for a minor role?

Before I started my career in engineering and after my masters degree, I was a cofounder and the Head of marketing of a film production company in India (non-bollywood) which produced 3 feature films out of which 2 were major blockbusters. I started this company with a friend and a major investor however I left the company after 10 months because of personal conflicts due to ethics violations which I refused to be a part of. Therefore I don't really have any proof that I've worked there since I never bothered to collect an experience certificate and I'm not on talking terms with them anymore.

I'm conflicted about including this as work experience as on one side it shows entrepreneurial, risk taking characteristics with some diversity of experience but on the other hand it may come off as lying or irrelevant experience. I've been told by some admissions counsellors that it makes my profile interesting but by how much ? Should I include this in my profile?

I have no idea what an experience certificate is, so admissions teams outside India will probably not look for them. The experience you describe is very useful, and you should mention it. It stands out. It contrasts you from other engineers.

After obtaining my Bsc in sociology, I started a bridal makeup business which sustained me for 1 year before I got a job in finance. During my interview, the MBA director said that my CV/story caught her eye and she found me very interesting.
Your story will definitely help you stand out. Just highlight what you did including financial revenue and the impact you made in %ages. You'll be fine! :)

Thank you for replying. I had read something years ago and was under the impression that MBA schools do extensive background checks on the candidates. So can anyone claim impressive but not so over the top achievements and get away with it ? Anyways I intend to be honest about this experience as it's just a really small part of my overall 10 years of work experience which has more interesting achivements in engineering and project management.
