Importance of extracurriculars

How important are extracurricular activities, volunteer work, etc??

I am thinking about this because I'm starting to apply for MBA programs to start next year. Many of them ask for information about my extracurricular activities. Unfortunately, I didn't do much in the way of volunteer work when I was at university. I think if I included them on my application, it would be transparent that I did them just because I had to.
How important are extracurricular activities, volunteer work, etc??

This depends on the school. Good schools want interesting people with values and goals, and that's a good way to spot them.

What are your target schools? Usually the top business schools will be looking for something along these lines, and especially how your extracurricular activities demonstrate who you are as a person.
