I did go through the webpages earlier and I could not get a page where the current students or previous students gave a review about the MBA program there.

I would like to know how good their early advantage MBA program is. How good are the chances for a placement after graduation.

I really doubt that you'd be able to find objective reviews on a school's own website.

An MBA program that does not require work experience will generally have poor placements after graduation. US News says that the placement rate for normal full-time MBA students is less than 40% at graduation, so I'd imagine that this number for early advantage program students would be less than that.

Can also you give me your opinion about the University of Houston (CT Bauer) and the University of Oklahoma ( Price ) MBA program. Which one is better ?

Outgoing salaries send to be very similar for those two schools but not extraordinary ($67k or so last time I checked.)

For energy/oil/petroleum jobs, Bauer is great (it's all about location and employer relationships here, and they have both.)

Oklahoma's placements are generally more diverse: grads land jobs in finance, consulting, and some energy positions.

So it really depends on your career goals and expectations. Geography, I'd imagine, would play a big role - Houston and Oklahoma City are different, both in terms of career opportunities and in terms of demographics (although they have some similarities.)

That was informative. I am basically looking out for a career in the Energy / Oil & Gas sector. From that point of view would you recommend Oklahoma's or Houston's MBA program.
Oklahoma has a 16 month MBA program whereas Houston has a 22 month MBA program.
Houston has a larger class size whereas Oklahoma a smaller size.

That's a tough one.

Houston, being where it is, has more connections with energy employers: recruiters like Halliburton, Marathon Oil, etc. all regularly hire students. More Houston MBAs go into oil and gas than those from Price.

But Price still has a lot of students go into the field, although the focus there is more on finance.

But salary stats, average scholarships, etc. are comparable.

I'd connect with the schools, especially their career services departments, to see if you get a sense of where students who are similar to you go after graduation.

Dear MBA Hipster

I just happened to check out the rankings of both the University of Oklahoma's MBA program and the University of Houston's MBA program on usnews full time MBA ranking.
OU is ranked 67 and UH is ranked 98. Now should this affect my selection criteria for the schools. Do I need to rely on the rankings too ?

I don't know what hipster thinks but I wouldn't use US News as a primary factor in your decision-making process. They rely too heavily on self-reported data compared to the more reliable rankings.

I would instead use verifiable statistics - and Businessweek says that average salaries are so close (within $1,000 per year) that I would call these schools comparable.

Agreed. The US News rankings really shouldn't be taken as seriously as the other main MBA rankings. These programs are very close - so other factors, like where you want to work, etc., will be more important than the rankings.
