INSEAD GEMBA vs IESE GEMBA vs HEC EMBA

Hi there, I have been accepted into all three of the programmes and I am truly grateful for the opportunity. I am however, trying to decipher which will be the best programme, for me. I have had success in both corporate and entrepreunurial careers and want to step back in to corporate with a longer term focus on leadership and business mentoring / coaching for executives.

I'm located in London, however, keen to move to Asia Pac area and Sydney in particular.

Which school has the best network in Sydney?  Surely the AGSM online MBA would be better or the Melbourne EMBA?

Why does that make sense, given your goals? If you want a classroom experience, why not limit yourself to MBAs that operate both in Europe and in Asia, like Chicago, ESSEC-Mannheim, Insead, Kellogg, LBS, Manchester or the OneMBA?

Oh, I guess I would also suggest checking in with alumni of those schools in Sydney to see what the network is like in the city. It seems like IESE has under 100 alumni in that city. Are they active and useful?

I didn't check LinkedIn but I assume Insead has the better network in Australia, but I agree with the point about Australian schools. It feels like total overkill to pay 3 or 4 times more than AGSM for a local network that's inferior.

AGSM is obviously much stronger in Asia Pacific than in Europe and the USA, especially because it also has the UNSW network to pull on. USNW will have a much bigger network in the USA than Insead, and Insead will be stronger in Europe. But for the price of the GEMBA you could do Harvard ALM, Warwick DLMBA and AGSM MBA. If you are really focussed on network power, think about how to build your network most where your own network is weak and there the school fits the gap.

It's a very good school, and of course so are all the schools mentioned here. A classroom programme will be a better experience for many people than an online one. An EMBA will have a more senior cohort than an online MBA. Insead's alumni will be more globally distributed than AGSM, which is more of an Asia Pacific school.

That's a really excellent MBA with a very good cohort that's attracting a strong Chinese group of executives because of the dual degree with Tsinghua. The cohort is really international: it's not all Chinese or Chinese-based. There's also a lot of diversity across markets. Most of the faculty are Chinese speaking scholars with international experience, and that's rather different from the GEMBA.
