I referred to the government's Teaching Excellence Framework, and pointed out that USW is the only Welsh university to fail to gain Gold, Silver or Bronze status.

USW and some universities did not participate the TEF so making a remark to them as failing to achieve a certain status is misleading.

They literally chose to not achieve that standard. Similarly, when they selected just three academics research to submit in the REF, do you think they have a lot of amazing researchers they did not have the time to submit?

If you compare the TEF with the students ratings of teaching, you will see a very strong correlation. The schools that avoided the TEF (for example Edinburgh) were very poorly rated for teaching in the CUG and NSS.

I don't see the point of this question. Above average on the basis of what? I can say hundreds and one can simply make again a remark that they are poor.

I was asked to provide a ranking with USW and RGU on the same level and I did. So I'm expecting an argument on how RGU is considered a good university while USW is not based on the ranking.

My point is one cannot simply say that a UK university is a poor or low quality university considering the standard being implemented in the UK. There is no harm in saying one is great but there is harm in saying one is low quality.

I gave my two cents and was done with this string...I came back to simply express my support for someone else who shared my point of view...Sir with all due respect (based on your accolades)....I assume that we are mostly professionals here irrespective of whether we went to ivy league institutions or not...we should appreciate differences in opinions as a means of gaining insights for positive reflections...I find your contributions in this string a bit elitist and distasteful.

I did not expect an ad hominem reply from a highly educated person. I thought B schools promote critical thinking over assumptions? You don't need to believe this but I don't know Zorro. I'm a person who loves reading opinions and contributions of people in various academic forums like this. I just came across this thread saying a particular UK university is low quality. If a university that has made it to the global ranking is still regarded as poor, then I feel sorry for my countrymen since we only have one university who barely made it to global ranking thus receiving the worst education then.
