Hello,

Thanks for reading my message. I am a 43 year old Indian IT professional.

Education:

Master in Management, Master in Computer Science, Bachelor in Business (finance specialisation)

Work Experience:

Worked for various organizations & Govt. entities in India, Singapore, Thailand, China, etc.

Currently, I am working on a World Bank funded project & building the entire electronic payments infrastructure of a small country (working for the Ministry of Finance of that country).

Question:

I feel that I am stagnating. Although my current position title is that of an International Consultant, a lot of my work still involves hands on programming/architecture, managing a small team, etc. I wish to grow in my career & get out of this. At least, I wish to get out of programming and more into a management role, offer some high value consulting, etc. It would be great to work for some startups too.

I am open to relocating. UK, Ireland or any other English speaking country/city would be ideal. I am wondering if I can take the education route to relocation. Will an EMBA help? Most EMBAs are part time. Hence, I won't quality for a student visa. Are there any other courses which might be suitable for my profile.

You have a lot of transferrable skills. Take a diagnostic test like CareerLeader to see where you could be valuable, and then think about which of the options it recommends fit best with your values and lifestyle goals. After that, I agree that a full-time degree is a great way to make a transition. However, work that way around: start with goals and values, and then pick the course. The MBA is not the only degree. Maybe a specialised degree in healthcare leadership, information security, research management or marketing consulting is the best fit with your goals?
