Take a look at my post about using LinkedIn. I think most NHS medical directors don't have MBAs: qualifications from the CMI and RCSI are common, as is the Senior Leader Apprenticeship. If your budget is limited, start with a SLA since that's more or less free.
If you can increase your investment Warwick and Imperial seem to be popular among those who do have MBAs. Certainly, look at the NHS's partners for its MBA and Leadership Academy over the last 20 years: primarily the OUBS, Manchester, and Warwick but I recall also there are other schools - Birmingham, Cranfield, Nottingham... probably others.
If you cannot move the budget, I would focus on the SLA pathways at the OUBS, Manchester and maybe Cranfield.
PS By move Eastwards, I guess you mean to Asia rather than to Norfolk. Focus on the best school for your next step.
