MBA in Germany or Australia

I want to do an MBA soon. I am currently in Germany and was thinking about doing an MBA here, but the information I have seen, the business schools in the country don't have much recognition outside of Germany.

I could also go to Australia because that's where my roots are and I don't have to worry about visas or anything else. And from what I gather, business schools like UNSW and AGSM are well respected abroad.

I basically want to keep my options as open as possible after graduation. Doing an MBA in Germany would help me build my foothold in Europe but I am skeptical about its value internationally.

Usually the best advice is study where you want to work. To some extent, you're right - business schools in Germany don't have a huge footprint outside the country. But the same is basically true of the Australian schools.

If you want to do an MBA with a truly international alumni / career network, you'd have to aim higher, at a top school like LBS, Harvard, Insead, etc. Maybe even HKUST, if you're looking at the Asia Pacific market.

... just adding that only few German MBA-programs have a good repation even *inside* of Germany. The MBA market got flooded with MSc. programs that just got rebranded to MBA, severly undermining the standing of (German) MBA-degrees altogether.

Interesting. Maybe I will indeed look elsewhere at top schools. I want to have as much flexibility as possible after I get the MBA. Thanks for the tips.

Yes, unless you are sure that you want to stay and work in Germany or Australia, a top-10 MBA will probably be better for you.
