MBA or MSC

Hello all,

I will soon be graduating from a well ranked university in the US with a BSc in Business and Economics and a GPA of 3.5. I did not do the GMAT and do not have any work experience.

I am looking to do a postgraduate degree in the UK however I am not sure whether to do an MBA or MSc. I am leaning towards an MBA though since it is generally considered to be a better, more recognized degree.

I currently have MBA offers from:
- University of Aberdeen
- University of Greenwich
- University of Central Lancashire
- Cardiff University

I realize that all of these schools are not accredited by the AMBA.

I also have MSc. offers in various specialized masters such as Finance, Logistics, Energy etc. from:
- University of Nottingham
- University of Surrey
- University of Leeds
- University of East Anglia
- University of Dundee
- Aston University
- Robert Gordon University

Could anyone suggest any advice on how I should proceed ?

You should take an MSc at one of those (much better) internationally accredited schools. If finance is on interest, then the FT's ranking of MSc in Finance programmes is excellent -- and will be a great preparation for an MBA in several years time.

Agree with Duncan. MBA programs are really only with students with work experience - if you have nothing to build on, then the degree is much less relevant.

Thanks for the responses.

Duncan when you mention that I should take an MSc at one of those internationally accredited schools, what do you mean by accredited ?

Is there an accreditation for MSc programs or something similar for non finance programs ?

For example would postgraduate business programs at the University of Dundee be accredited ?

Hi there. Read http://www.find-mba.com/accreditations for details of the three respected international accreditations that top business schools benefit from. Dundee doesn't have any of those, as far as I know.

Look at http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/masters-in-management-2011 for the best programmes available
