MSc in Strategy at EDHEC vs MBA at UVic(Canada)

Hello Duncan,

I am a student from India. My profile :
Age: 26
B.Tech : CGPA 6.2/10
Work Exp : Total : 4 years. 2 years at own startup, 1 year at software MNC, 1 year in Govt
sector
GMAT 1: 640
GMAT 2: 690
I am interested to work in the Consulting Industry. I started the whole process of applying to colleges pretty late & I had missed most of the deadlines of B-Schools in USA for the fall intake of 2017.
Since my CGPA & GMAT at first attempt was a bit on the lower side, I applied to a few colleges with the score of 640 on GMAT & have got accepted from:
1. EDHEC MSc in Strategy, Consulting & Digital Transformation
2. University of Victoria(Full Time MBA)
I will pay the major part of the cost of studies through a student loan
My dilemma is whether I should go for the MSc at EDHEC or the MBA at UVic since if I study the MSc , I could work up my grades & gain work experience, apply for MBA at Top 50 colleges with a strong application & with a strong plan. However, I am not sure whether I could repay the Loan of 20,000 Euros within 2 years post graduation. I am also not sure about the job opportunities I will get in France with basic learning of French(B1 level)
If I go for MBA at UVic, I am not sure about the post graduation Job opportunities & whether I could get into a consulting career later.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Unless you first develop fluent French, I don't see the point of attending an EDHEC campus in France. UVic will be better, but it's not an excellent option. Canada is more open to migration, both because of easier routes to migration (your B1 French will help in some provinces) and because of the use of English, but you will have seen that salaries are lower.

You are still younger than the average MBA in Europe or Canada. Improve your odds as a MBA applicant by developing a better sense of mission and engaging in social leaderships. Work on your French too.

Unless you first develop fluent French, I don't see the point of attending an EDHEC campus in France. UVic will be better, but it's not an excellent option. Canada is more open to migration, both because of easier routes to migration (your B1 French will help in some provinces) and because of the use of English, but you will have seen that salaries are lower.

You are still younger than the average MBA in Europe or Canada. Improve your odds as a MBA applicant by developing a better sense of mission and engaging in social leaderships. Work on your French too.

Thank You Duncan for the swift reply, with my current B1 level & 1 year of learning French at EDHEC through French classes, interactions with students & later with an internship will I have good chances to enter into the French market with the MSc in SOCD?(considering that I will be able to communicate in French in regular conversations). I understand that the labor market in France is highly competitive & there is a wave of populism which might affect future international recruitment.
UVic's website shows that they have almost 90% placements for the daytime MBA. Although the average starting salaries are a bit lower, What chances would I have to get into consulting after a few years of work in Canada in some responsible position.
My final question which is of a general nature : Is MBA the final degree if one intends to make a career in Corporate sector or one can pursue some advanced programs to boost their career
