Revealing your app list to adcoms

I am curious about what adcoms think when they look at the list of schools you have applied to. I will apply to LBS in R1 and no other school. My strategy is that if I do not get in I will apply to INSEAD, IMD, and two other backup schools for the Jan 2014 admission.

When I indicate on my application that I have not applied to any other school, will LBSs adcom look at it and not believe it? Should I be worried about this issue at all?

May be they can view it as a lack of planning / strategy and will consider that you are putting all your eggs in one basket.

Well, not really. They know that applicants will go elsewhere if they don't succeed at LBS. The importnat things are that applicants show that they understand the difference between the content of the London experience, and that they can say what they would do if they were unsuccessful or waitlisted.

Exactly - admissions commissions understand that candidates regularly apply to a spread of schools, and make their decision only after they've received offers.

That said, you do have to clearly make your case for why LBS would be a good experience for you. I think that if you communicate any sense of uncertainty in your essays about your desired experience, this could be a problem.
