Should I go to the US or Europe/UK?

Hi everybody,

I am from a country in Asia, I'm currently working in Singapore, and I am interested in going abroad to work. I am interested in doing my MBA first. I need to decide on where to go so that I can work in the country after I graduate. Which country has the best career prospects and good visa requirements? (out of the US, the UK, and European countries?)

I speak English and French fluently and have a basic understanding of Spanish. I could improve my Spanish before I did my MBA if that was important. I do not have any German skills so I hesitate to go to Germany. However, I do understand that in Germany it is not hard to get a work visa.

Can somebody advise? I have been working in finance.

I think this depends a little on your GMAT score and the quality of your work experience. The visa situation is probably easier in the EU than in the USA. Considering your focus on finance, your best options are to stay in finance, which are centred in London or Frankfurt. Considering your lack of German, that means London. So, an MBA or masters in finance seem like a good start. Do you have the CFA 1 charter?

Assuming you want to stay in finance, the LBS MBA or MiF are going to be your best options...

In the US, look at the NYC schools, NYU and Columbia mainly. There are some issues with the post-MBA work visas in both the US and the UK so make sure you know how these work - and the risks involved - before committing.

Insead makes sense. Without professional spoken and written French, options are more limited at HEC, which is a more local school.
