Gmat low- pls evaluate my profile

Hi,
I am from India. I have done my graduation in B.com (accounting and finance). My GPA has consistently been good. Scored 80s and 70s through out.
I have 1 yr retail work exp ( due to lack of opportunities- recession 2009).
2 years in audit- KPMG analyst.
And currently working as a consultant on project basis.
My IELTS score was 7.5, but GMAt was 500 and then 480.
Can you suggest what schools can I apply to? I do intend to take the GMAT soon again, Also, I want to switch to marketing, or luxury brand management. I checked IUM but doesnt look like it is good enough from an employment perspective.

Maybe try taking the GRE? Some schools will accept this instead of the GMAT, and I've heard that some applicants find it more manageable. There are a lot of programs that will accept the GRE - Michigan/Flint, Missouri State, Babson in the US; Cambridge, Hult, and Leeds in the UK.

Otherwise, if you retake the GMAT, make sure you do some intensive prep - target your weak areas, take practice tests, and repeat as necessary. If you can bump your sore in the 650+ range, you'd have many more options.

I don't think that most programmes in luxury have a positive return on investment. Wages are low; the supplu of talent is huge and there afe very few MBA opportunities.

ok thanks a ton! so summary, just focus on marketing/management from the best school I can get and then if I can find good luxury options with good pay, then go ahead but not do specilization from the not at the top schools.

I don't think luxury brands spend a lot of monet hiring MBAs as consultants, except on back office issues (finance, logistics etc).

Monaco and IFA are private schools with a lucrative niche. I don't think the claim especially good outcomes for their graduates. Someone I know teaches at Monaco: the students seem good and so the resources.

I would imagine that the main issue in India is still that luxury brands don't need many MBAs. Salaries are very low in the sector, below the average.

ok.. but also, now in India IFA is starting an MBA program with, a tri city model- India, Shanghai and Paris, a one yr MBA.. this is the first time they are starting it.. the other similar one they are having in Palimoda, Shanghai and Paris. Do you think the India model is worth considering? The investment will be 20,00,000 INR.

What are your goals? I don't see how an MBA in luxury or fashion can lead to an MBA-type role, since those firms don't really hire many MBAs.

In that case take an masters in marketing, not an MBA. An MBA is price you out of the luxury market.
