2nd tier full time MBA VS 1st tier DL MBA

Hi Duncan and all,

I am more or less decided to go for the full time Birmingham MBA but I am also thinking if I should ignore the DL option from Warwick. I will have 5 years of work experience with 2 years of general business experience. My aim would be to stay in the UK and look for supply chain related jobs in the retail industry. While I understand full time MBA will provide me the opportunity to do an internship with the employer I want to join, I cannot ignore the worldwide reputation of the Warwick MBA. If I manage to get an offer from Warwick DL, I wouldn't know which one to join. Thanks.

Considering your goals, the full-time MBA is by far the better option. If Warwick accept you for the DL, by not ask for their FT instead?

I actually applied full time before but got rejected due to submission of my first GMAT score which didn't meet their requirement. I shouldn't have submitted my score in the first place as I originally thought they would give conditional offer on how much I should score to gain entry.

I had told them that I will retake and see if their admission officer can overturn their decision. I was also thinking if I should go for the DL route if they are to stick to their original decision.

They say you can move between the modes. But the DL programme won't have the same support, experience or credibility. Bham FT is certainly better for your goal.

I see. On the upside about Birmingham MBA, they have a a specialism known as strategy and procurement. I infer that they have alumni working in the procurement side for retailers. Even I were to specialise in their international business specialism, I believe I can still connect to those alumni. Thank you for your advice anyway Duncan. :)

Sorry Duncan. Just want to add on, I gained my bachelor degree from a Russell Group university in 2011 and I do not need employers to sponsor visa to me to work. I will also be working in the same industry and function. Just different location since I am coming to the UK from Hong Kong. Does my UK degree and background make a difference to which mode I should go for?

If you need the MBA for the move then do it full time or EMBA rather than DL.
