American MBA Student in Europe

I am an American who is considering applying to an MBA program in Europe.

Basically, my question is... does anyone know if going to a foreign MBA program, with plans to return to the US afterwards, is worth the effort? Or would it be a better use of time to just go to a US MBA program since I plan to work here after anyway?

Yes, you should study in the US if you want to work in the US.

Hi Duncan,
Would it not be so that if one has lived and worked in USA and gains a UK accredited MBA, it would be an advantage? I am thinking in terms of exposure and learning new business cultures, etc. Surely a global outfit would welcome a well travelled and rounded person than an entirely 'localised' applicant.

No, there are not many firms in the US that would really value a UK qualification. You'd certainly have some personal advantages in your experience, but not many US firms would place a premium on that. A US firm hiring for the US will generally want someone who had developed their network and soft skills in a US context.
