What are your goals?
When I hear the word 'elite,' I think of the LBS / Insead tier. As far as I know, at least for these schools' full-time MBA programs, all applicants need to take the GMAT (or increasingly the GRE as an alternative.)
For EMBA programs, if you have 10+ years of work experience, the GMAT is less important and may not be as consistently required.
