Exeter for Finance

Hello, I am an Indian applicant and my goal is to study finance in the UK. I am interested in Exeter but I have some questions.

Mainly I have three years of work experience but not in the field of finance. I am confused if I should opt for an MBA or an MSc.

If I should opt for an MSc, which should I choose? There are a lot of them! MSc Finance and Investment, MSc Finance and Management, MSc Financial Mathematics... and more!

I have not taken the GMAT yet but I plan on doing this in the coming months. I am interested in aiming at fall 2020 to start a program.

Why finance? Why Exeter?

Look at the modules in each course. Which ones reflect your needs?

An MBA will mostly be not finance, so if you want to focus on finance then take a finance degree. Consider the sort of role you would like to do later on. It me be obvious that different roles works better with different degrees.

Exeter is ranked in the FT MiF ranking, but it doesn't place as highly compared to other UK schools such as Warwick, Henley, Lancaster, etc. In fact, it's the second to last UK school in the ranking. Doesn't fare well either in terms of international mobility.

So it's a decent program, but there are others that may be better for your goals.

Exeter's MBA is ok, good for CSR, but not particularly well regarded for finance, or finance career paths.

What are your goals?

I have heard that Exeter is one of the best schools for finance in the UK, is this not so?

In terms of curriculum I would like to learn about essential financial subjects as well as investments.

The very best schools for the MiF in the UK are, according to the FT: Cass, Cambridge, Cranfield, ESCP (top for placement), Imperial, LBS, Said and Warwick. Edinburgh, Henley and Lancaster are also very serious. I'd say that Durham, Exeter and Strathclyde are the next-strongest schools overall.

Any good MIF will cover finance and investments well.
