Hello,

I am debating between masters programmes in England. I would also try for Europe eventually and may be Canada. Anyway, from previous posts, I remember reading replies from some experienced members suggesting having a good Quant component in your programme, since Business is about numbers and people take you seriously when you can present numbers. I aagree and personally i think too, that i would benefit from quant.
I want to study a Masters programme not MBA. I was looking for MScs with quant but i don't want it to be too mathematical either, cos i easily get bored of too much mathematics. I was looking at the Business Analytics and Consulting at WBS, or the Analytics at MBS. This for 2 reasons 1. for teh quant and 2.i find Business Analysis interesting.
However, i read about the GMAT Business Ready recently and some online courses (mathematics for Mgt, quant methods and Financial mgt) at Harvard : http://web.hbr.org/store/landing/courses/index.php?referral=01121
I was wondering if its better to enrol into these for the quant.
Any suggestions?

I am not clear about my career progression. I know eventually I want to start my own business. I have a few ideas at the moment and due to lack of experience, don't feel confident. In the meantime, I would like to get a thorough understanding of how businesses work and grow. Therefore, eventually, Business Development is what i need. However, now, how about Business Analysis and a couple of certifications like Six Sigma, Prince2 etc. Thing is up until now, i have worked in operations and i want to move into the roles that are more zoomed out. I feel, BA now and a DL MBA later followed by Business Development work experience will help me have a more well rounded understanding of starting, running and expanding a business.

Apologies if it sounds silly/unrealistic. What you read is not even 1/10th of the confusion in my head. Thus, i need, the right direction and advice.

Back to MSc programmes:
as it stands, I only know:
i want to study a subject that is challenging enough yet not too difficult that i cannot thrive;
that i don't want to study a superficial programme like International business or Management.
and that the reputation of the uni is of topmost priority.

applying all these filters, the courses that remain, i should apply to and from the ones i get an offer for, i should select one.

Look into Operations Research/Management which couple study at the Maths/Engineering department with Business School.

I vote for Edinburgh Operations Research in Finance program.
