If you want to work in the UK, then CIPD is crucial. If not, then the safe bet is the schools you named (Aston and Edinburgh) on the MSc ranking: http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/masters-in-management-2011 Of those two Edinburgh's MSc has the higher salaries, by a long way.

Is that true? and what do you think of Henley?

Henley has a strong network from its executive MBA. However, the school has changed substantially by closing its full-time programmes in Henley and moving to the University of Reading. A glance at the MSc programmes at reading shows that some are very practical (the finance course in the ICMA centre) but the international HRM programmes does not seem to have the same feeling. It aims "To introduce students to key concepts for understanding international human resource management, to explore the practice of managing human resources in international businesses and to consider variations in the practice of managing human resources in different countries and cultures." That sounds totally like book learning, with no mention of team work, internships or in-company projects.

I am from a non-EU country, actually from South Korea.
I am planning to get a job in S. Korea or other countries.
Then, would you tell me which BSchool is the most internationally known?

Of the UK schools you've mentioned, then I think Edinburgh and Henley are the most internationally know.

But -- why would you want to study outside Korea? I would aim for the 'Sky' universities or KAIST if I was there.

Actually SKY and KAIST could be good options, but they provide me with 2 year long postgraduate programmes. Besides, I don't live in Seoul or Deajeon where the universities are located. So I have to pay for my own accomodation. Finally I can find that SKY and KAIST don't have competitive advantages when it comes to total costs. I also put higher emphasis on UK universities which can save me my time.

Could you give me your opinion about it?

Less time is also less learning. Consider what the difference is, not just the cost. Have you considered schools with higher ranked MSc programmes?

I am an MBA aspirant from India and wish to pursue it form UK.
I have admission offers from below business schools:

1. Aston
2. Leeds
3. Henley (University of Reading)

I am not able to finalize on the B-schools and would need a suggestion from experts like you who can lead me to a better decision .

As you are aware, the PSW visa is stopped now in UK and it is mandated leave UK soon after the graduation . Else, I have to find a visa sposoring employer in UK. Having this in scenario, which B-school would be a better one in term of international recognition , brand name in non UK countries and other aspects .

It would be of very great help if you can put more light on above lines .
Please get back top me with your suggestion on my query and guide me with the decision .

Henley is the school with the better international reputation.

Hi Promodh,
All these schools will provide you me almost similar opportunities (except Leeds ). you you would need to consider other factors as well such as fees , living cost etc in order to reduce your investment and to improve your ROI.
You may also consider other B-Schools of similar level in order to spread your choices.

I prefer Edinburgh considering its international and employer reputation but at the same time Aston seems to have a good profile for the same course. Do you think Edinburgh would be a wrong choice in this situation?

I think this depends on your career goals. Both of these are aimed at preparing people for entry-level HR roles and they do that well. For employment in the UK, I think Aston's course is better. There's more of a focus on employment, and there's a very long record of CIPD accreditation which gives Aston a good alumni record. Only Aston has the change of internships, I think, although most students don't get them.

Edinburgh is a much more prestigious university and it has an international reputation and student body, most of whom will be Asians. Its HR course is brand new and hopes to get CIPD accreditation this year, but if I want to work in the UK that hope would not be enough for me. If I wanted to leave the UK afterwards it would be an even choice. I think Aston's greater reach in the HR world would made me go for Aston, but Edinburgh is certainly not a bad choice.

PS Looking at the MiM ranking, at both schools 90% of MSc students will be foreigners. Edinburgh seems to have better mobility and salary; Aston students report much better careers support.

But considering the fact that the employment opportunities are way too less for overseas students and the visa rules have changed now in the UK, won't it be better to hold a more internationally recognised degree? that is, if I were to kick start my career outside the UK. And if I wanted to look for work within the UK, would Aston or Edinburgh help me better in terms of salary and opportunity(If Edinburgh gets the accreditation this year)?

Yes, I think you're approaching it in the right way. Edinburgh certainly has the better reputation internationally. Inside the UK, the things that balance up are that Aston has an established network of HR professionals, and has employers in the habit of recruiting HR people from there, which Edinburgh does not - and that's about connections rather than accreditation. For the UK, Aston would be the better, safer choice (and note, for example, that the home fee is higher at Aston and is higher ranked for the MSc http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/masters-in-management-2011 ). Internationally, I don't think it would matter that much since these are both strong schools. Personally, I didn't enjoy living in Birmingham much but the climate is much kinder than Edinburgh. In your position, I think I might choose Edinburgh or look for a better ranked school.

PS Think it over, I think Aston's much greater scale as a business school, and Birmingham's as a city, also needs to be mentioned. If you're from somewhere smaller, you might find you get more out of the Edinburgh experience. However, Aston will have a bigger network and strong relationships as a business school.

I am a B. pharma graduate(70%). i had done a job in pharma company for 3 months in production department, latter i discovered that i am suffering from chemical allergy.i left the the job. now i am thinking about master in management . i have not taken GMAT. can you suggest me some decent programs. i have budget around US $ 25000. I dont know what to do i have nothing left after being allergic, i feel like an end to my life and career. this time i want to ask why me?

Well, don't give up on the pharmaceutical industry. There are lots of office jobs that you can do, and a MiM degree will help. Look at this list http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/masters-in-management-2011 for schools in the top half, or top third that don't require a prior degree in business, and which have a mix of national and international students.

I would suggest you start with: HEC Lausanne; Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University; WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business); ESCP Europe and City University, Cass.

i searched all the given school. i found these are top most schools in the world and Gmat is mandatory plus the country in which anyonbdy desire to get good job after Msc, should speak local language and it would be better if he has a bit knowledge of respective country.
so for me, it seems a long chase to get a good MSc school as i have to have GMAT and ILETS, cracking GMAT and getting 7 band in ILETS is not easy for person like me who is not native english speaker(Indian) and living in very small town where no body knows about GMAT and ILETS and where no coaching is available.
