One Planet MBA at Exeter OR MBA at Newcastle

Hi,I am an EU student and plan on staying back in the UK for work in the Banking or Consultancy sectors in London post the MBA. I have a work exp of 3.5 yrs in Banking.
I have received offers from Exeter and form Newcastle. Which one do you recommend. Also what do you think about the One Planet MBA at Exeter. I understand that the Uni of Exeter is ranked among the top 10 Unis in the UK. However how is their MBA programme? Is it focused to much on Sustainability and the Environment?

I think you need to focus on rankings that track MBA outcomes rather than undergraduate satisfaction, and then focus on schools that place well into banking and consulting. Because either Newcastle nor Exeter require the GMAT, neither of them will place well into your target career.

Hi Duncan,
Many thanks for your reply and valuable feedback. I am currently preparing for the GMAT. However if that does not work out well for any reason as a back up option I would need to choose one of the MBA courses as I have planed on pursing an MBA programme this year. In that case could you recommend me one form Exeter or Newcastle for the MBA programme.

No, I could not do that. If you goal is still to move into consulting or really move up in banking, then neither of these courses will help you very much. A better back-up option would be a masters in finance.

I think that according to representation on Linkedin, your best MBA options if you want to work in these fields in the UK would be LBS by far. INSEAD, Warwick, and Cranfield would also be great choices.

Newcastle and Exeter are really far down the list. I suppose that it may be possible to get placed in consulting or banking with a degree from one of these schools, but your chances would be better elsewhere.

That Exeter program has such a heavy sustainability focus that I don't know how valuable it would be for somebody who doesn't want to work in a CSR-type function. And I'm not sure how many of those jobs there are in consulting. :)
