Here's a slightly fuller answer. There is no national admissions center in the USA. Each university will look for different things. You should consider which programs are the best fit for your career goals, and prepare accordingly. For example, this week I have been visiting schools in Chicago including DePaul University. All of their MIS concentrations has an unsurprising core (See
http://www.cdm.depaul.edu/academics/Pages/Current/Requirements-MS-IS-Standard.aspx) of systems analysis, database design, project management and System Design (essentially, the diagrammatic aspects of systems analysis). These seem like great issues to prepare, and certainly when I prepared for my MSc in systems analysis I focussed on systems analysis and systems design. Many schools will have similar core curricula, but you shoudl tailor your preparation to the schools in questions. This site is focussed on the MBA, and I am sure other places will give better insight.
