Foreign JD, US LL.M., and US MBA?

Hey,
are there any folks who hold foreign (European) law degrees and who either 1) completed their LLM and contemplate MBA or 2) want to obtain MBA instead of LLM?

I am thinking of MBA, and can not decide whether obtaining it is a good idea... I am a foreign, non US, lawyer, I plan to obtain a LLM degree in the future. However, I am very interested in business as well , I can not decide whether I need a LLM or MBA or both... If both, should LLM be first?

Can anybody help me and share thier thoughts?

Can't decide where you want to make your fortune, eh? There's the Bucerius-WHU Master of Law and Business in Germany where you will get both - law and business. There's an exuberant rep from that school active on this board, so I'd try to contact him or her. My thoughts are that an MBA will open more doors for you than an LLM, particularly if you are already a lawyer.

it seems like a good program for people not able to deiced between MBA an LLM. the only question is, how will it be looked upon by recruiters.

hey guys, I am not actually interested in a german/european MBA-LLM degree.

I am torn between a US LLM (and possibly a NY license) and/or a US MBA (and possibly a CPA license--I am not sure about this though)...

Go for the MBA/CPA. I think it is the degree that will make you the most marketable if you want to work in the US. I think a foreign MBA grad stands a better chance of landing a job here than a foreign LLM grad.

Where were you thinking? Stern? Columbia?

Go for the MBA/CPA. I think it is the degree that will make you the most marketable if you want to work in the US. I think a foreign MBA grad stands a better chance of landing a job here than a foreign LLM grad.

Where were you thinking? Stern? Columbia?

I am not really sure yet. You know, now I am choosing not to what University to apply but whether it is a good idea..
