MIB from Hult Business School

Hello friends,

I have 2.5 years of work experience and looking for higher studies. Due to sudden personal reasons, I need to take a decision soon and can't extend my admission beyond Feb'2011. I have a good profile including lot of recognizable extra-curricular activities.

I was looking for an MBA preferably from UK, but open to any country. I had shared my interest with Hult Business School. They mentioned that at my current experience level, it is very hard to provide me with the offer, but they do have Masters in International Business. We had a long discussion regarding the future prospects of the program and I was satisfied with the explanations.

MBA from Hult would have been a great advantage, but I am not sure how are the real world prospects and acceptance level of Masters (MIB) course.

I am quite confused whether I shall go for an MBA from a mediocre UK university or MIB from Hult. One has a better degree, but the other has a better brand name.

My total budget including living and tuition fee is around 40,000 USD or 20,000 GBP. I am planning to take GMAT and IELTS both by mid of July.

IELTS - expecting minimum 6.5.
GMAT - No clear idea, but I do not expect very great results, since I will be giving this in a hurry.

It will be great if any Hult Alumni can share his insight.
I also seek expert opinions, so please feel free to share your suggestions.

It would be good to know more about your profile in order to give you suggestions:

What's your GPA?
Your career background?

I'd think that an MBA would provide more potential after graduation than an MIB. Hult requires 3 years of work experience - I think if you get a stellar score on the GMAT as you expect and have an otherwise good profile, you could make a case for yourself.

What do you mean by a mediocre UK program? What have you been looking at? If you can bump your budget just a tad you could check out Warwick or Cass, both of which would probably be better than mediocre, and probably give you more growth potential than an MIB.

I truly agree with you that MBA will always be more fruitful than MIB. However I am keen to know, just in case I am not able to get through in any college by Feb'2012, then is MIB an option worth going for ? This course is again not cheap and costs approx $32000 as tuition fee.

I am quite interested in UK colleges because of their 1 year MBA curriculum. Warwick and Cass should be good options but they may be very tight-budgeted for me. By mediocre colleges I meant Leeds, University of Hull, Bath, etc. But I am not sure as I do not have my GMAT scores yet. Since I am giving this exam in a hurry, it may happen that I may end up on a lower note (may be 530-550 as well).
