MPS vs MBA

I am an insurance professional resident in Africa for at least 7 years now. Work experience totaling 11 years; 5 at senior level in insurance and banking. I have applied to the Gies iMBA and now also considering the Columbia Master in Insurance Management. Not really sure what the odds are against me at Columbia. I don’t really plan on changing industry. My career trajectory has been quite steady over the past 7 years.

Please advise. What is my best option?

I think you need to focus on your goals. I can't see much benefit from the Columbia course.

Thanks Duncan. I thought the Columbia name would give weight to my resume and make me some sort of industry expert/ leader

Yes, that is the business model for vanity degrees that are over-priced and not selective. I suggest you focus on top business school degrees, to get better value especially in terms of alumni networks and higher quality classmates and faculty.

For the price of that Columbia degree, you could take the Illinois MBA, the MIT Micromasters and the Harvard ALM in finance!
