ND is a stretch, not only because you are below their 710 GMAT but also because it's a very small class. Some of the seats for people with lower GMAT scores go to applicants with Catholic connections. Can you improve your GMAT and then get in an application in the early decision round, on September 9th?

There are better schools with lower GMAT averages: Kellogg; Ross; Fuqua; Johnson; Darden; Tepper; UCLA. However, they are all over 700 so work on your GMAT.

Where did you find that 710 GMAT statistic? On Notre Dame's website, it says that the average is 687 for the MBA program. I figured I was just a little off, and all I needed was something small on another part of my application to offset the difference - but if it's really 710 than I suppose I should take it again.

That makes sense. The school's profile on BusinessWeek says that the average GMAT is 688 - it doesn't say if that's the mean or the median. I'm going to ask them directly.

Duncan, which site is more reliable - Findthebest or Business Week. Findthebest does have more data pertaining to schools...but I have found in many cases that GMAT scores on business week and findthebest vary a lot.

I'm not sure. The reality is that GMAT averages move from year to year, more or less in line with the economy. BusinessWeek publishes its data annually, while FindTheBest is updated all the time by users, which means that it's inconsistent.

Your limited work experience is the weak part of your application, considering that the average number of years at each of these schools is 5-6 years, so you're probably going to need a stronger GMAT score to counterweight that (700 would be good.)

If you don't want to re-take the GMAT, I would see these schools as reach programs, and maybe apply to one or two lower-ranked schools as safeties - Trulaske, maybe? Or Thunderbird, South Carolina Moore - something in that range.
