folks what is the real question? It is not how good is LIGS. It is what do you want? If you want Harvard. Go to Harvard? If you want to go to LIGS go to LIGS. But if you want LIGS to be Harvard then you are misguided in your endeavor. There are multiple solutions that meet different needs. If you want to expand your mind, in today's world, you really do not need to go anywhere. But if you are looking for someone to give you a stamp of approval. Get the best one you can get with your resources and constraints. Other than than it is all hogwash. We are playing a game here. LIGS seems legal in its efforts. Ethics or morals I have no idea. How good you are at what you do is up to you and LIGS and Harvard have nothing to do with it. There is no-one for whom IGS is the best MBA option, since LIGS cannot issue an accredited MBA. I can't think of any meaningful way in which one could say that it is a legal university: where is the status of university both legally protected and granted to LIGS? The University of the People awards nationally-accredited US degrees for $2,460. The London School of Economics' graduate diploma in management is similarly inexpensive. Both have open admissions.

You are also mistaken in the suggestion that there's no educational difference between Harvard and LIGS that cannot be explained by the students' motivation. These are not presentational differences. If you study for your MBA at Harvard, you will have exceptionally high-quality classmates, professors, careers staff, facilities, alumni and other resources. The educational experience is profoundly superior, even between top-50 and second-50 MBAs, as is shown by the rankings.

ASIC provides accreditation to those who cannot get meaningful international accreditation. In the UK, where is is based, no universities are accredited by it. Given the low cost of being accredited by it, I guess they ask schools to self-certify their processes to the minimum levels expected, for example, by the ill-reputed private colleges in the UK which exist mostly to get student visas. It is not meaningful in the context of international MBA accreditation.

By hilarious, i mean that surely ASIC and LIGS are not well known by more than a handful of people in this board, and even by a very small minority of those involved in academic accreditation professionally. By no means is it the case that "everyone knows" about them.

1- You should review their accreditation process, required standards, and internationally renowned quality standard.
2- ASIC is recognized by UKVI in the UK as an approved accrediting body.
3- ASIC is a member of the CHEA International Quality Group in the USA.
4- ASIC are members of the British Quality Foundation.
5- Yes everyone!!! who have experienced in academic research.

University of the People (UoPeople), LIGS university, IICSE university, Jaipur National University, and Assam Don Bosco University have good reputation since they are pioneer of affordable distance education degree program, and they are doing a great job which is the right way to help students who cannot afford the cost of a traditional campus-based university education.

Hi Abu. You are mistaken in your opening points. I've already addressed most of them.
1. ASIC is not internationally renowned. C'mon! It's five people working in a provincial town, with an accreditation process that costs a few hundred dollars. they cannot do anything that the leading accreditation bodies do.
2. ASIC is one of dozens of bodies which accredit UK schools and colleges' ability to sponsor students for short term courses. See https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-part-3-students That service: does not relate to degrees, but to short term courses; is not focussed only on higher education, but on all courses; is focussed on certifying the basic administration of a school's international student visas. It is not relevant to MBA quality.
3. The CIQG is open to anyone. It's not a measure of quality.
4. British Quality Foundation is open to anyone. It's not a measure of quality.
5. Honestly, I'm a faculty member at a triple crown business school, a fellow at another AACSB-accredited school. If you have any data to suggest ASIC is widely known please point to it. i can point out that zero UK MBA-awarding universities are accredited by ASIC.
6. I'm not saying that a university is poor if it has low fees, although clearly the best MBAs are expensive for a reason. I am saying that an accrediation body that charges $200 is a joke. The University of London has cheap courses, but it has tens of thousands of students. It's expensive to develop those courses, but many people can benefit from the same materials. Only one institution can benefit from one accreditation: you egt no more than $200 of time if you pay $200 and that is not a deep test of quality.

You cannot compare all distance learning schools with each other as if they are the same. No state body which controls the right to award degrees has given LIGS the right to issue degrees. It does not have meaningful national, regional or International MBA accreditation (Take a look at http://find-mba.com/mba-faq/mba-accreditation-why-is-it-important). The LSE is going a great job. UoP is doing a great job: they are huge projects with solid national accreditation. LIGS is not.

Anyhow, let me explain you something, to assess the international academic organizations you should review their policies and procedures which are provide guidance and direction to assessors and other personnel on the quality and organisational arrangements for the provision of assessment services, more important than that the academic standards is necessary to the fair evaluation of any academic institute, before you state your assessment, as I have mentioned, you should review required standards, and Policies and Procedures Manual.
2- My recommendation to avoid this language which become meaningless academically (five or six!!!). "It's five people working in a provincial town"
3- Pls review the history of University of the People 2009- 2014, you can't say during that period the university was fake institute.

I believe, if people are annoying you by using nonacademic language move away from them and don't use it. Your language it is totally unacademic.

Well, I actually am an academic. I am open about who I am. Who are you? I think it's totally appropriate who ask if you're someone with a commercial interest in the matter under discussion. Academics do discuss the realities, and they do ask provocative and difficult questions.

The facts remain: LIGS has not been given the right to issue degrees by any organisation that has that power. In that respect, it is unlike nationally-accredited non-profit universities like the University of the People. It is accredited by an organisaiton which is not designed for the accredition of degrees, let alone MBAs, but for the accrediation of short-term schools' basic organisational functions. That is too miminal a level to be a safe choice for the students who visit this site, who will be better served by respectable non-profit providers [like UoP or LSE for low-cost education, or schools with one or more of the triple crown accrediations if they have higher budgets].

Instead you respond with pointing out that ASIC has memberships that anyone can buy. That's just not a good faith approach to discussion.

I am not here to say this university is better or that is not. I am here to talk academically about the required standards:

1- What is University's approach.
2- The university's approach should maintain the following:
A- Academic quality.
B- Academic standards.
C- The resources which help employees to implement:
I- Regulations.
II- policies.
III- Procedures.

All the above mentioned, we call it University's framework, and this framework is very important to:
- To monitor academic standards.
- To review academic standards.
Finally, the guidance, and policy & procedures' manual is very important to support the quality of education which is offered to the student.

My recommendation to verify these all before register in LIGS university or any university.

I'll talk later on, when I have time about accrediting educational Agencies, and their accreditation standards.

I don't think you can consider any MBA to be the best quality option available if it's a school that does not have the right to issue degrees and does not have a respected international or national accreditation. if you;re short on budget, the LSE or UoP are much better choices leading to respected diplomas.

1- The university run their operations initially as per the university's approach.
2- The university will apply to one of accreditation bodies
3- Then the university are controlled by accreditation bodies.

No, LIGS is not accredited by a CHEA accredited body. It has the appropriate accreditation for a UK language school offering short courses, not for the issuing of degrees. Have you even read the thread?

UoP is totally different. It is a non profit school, set up with the support of a top university, that rapidly gained national accreditation. LIGS is obviously not aiming for meaningful national or regional accreditation.

It is accredited as university and they have the right to issue MBA degree. It is accredited by ASIC which is member of CHEA International Quality Group, and AAMEA. LIGS is fully registered with the state government of Hawaii as university. University of people did not get DEAC accreditation from first day. They received accreditation from the (DEAC) in 2014 while they started 2009, and some students graduated from University of people in 2013 before receiving DEAC accreditation.

ASIC is not a member of CHEA, it is a member of the CHEA International Quality Group -- that is something anyone can join. It is not a form of accreditation. I subscribe to the NY Times, but I am not accredited by it. AAMEA is not a serious accreditation body. Just look at the AAMEA.org website. It seems to only accredit LIGS and is otherwise unknown. Nor is LIGS accredited, licenced, approved or regulated by the state of Hawaii in any way: it simply files informaiton about its ownership like any other business. It is no more accredited than a sandwich shop.

The comparison with UoP is false. UoP from the start aimed for future national accreditation. LIGS is unable to make such a claim.
