MBA suited for an oil industry career

Hi there,
I am planning to apply for MBA from Canada based schools . I have 7 years of oil industry experience. After MBA, I would like to stay in the oil industry but in a different role (finance/strategy/business development) to leverage my industry experience. In terms of school selection and opportunities post MBA, should I be looking at Ontario based schools? Do people who graduate from Rotman/Ivey/Schulich, work in the oil industry? Or should I focus on the Alberta schools only, as that is where the oil industry is located (and possibly the recruitment is done).
My concern with Alberta schools is that they are not as highly ranked as the Ontario based schools. Please provide suggestions/feedback.

Alberta and Calgary are going to be stronger for oil / energy placements than the schools you mentioned. Placements of MBAs from Ivey and the Toronto schools are mostly going to be clustered around finance and consulting roles.

Yes, rankings matter in Canada, but I think that what Razors Edge was getting at is that the schools with the best connections to the oil firms are based in the west.

Rankings are strongly informed by salaries, and if the schools place well in the high paying industries like finance this can skew the rankings. It's not always about which school is better ranked but which is the best for your specific career goals.
