1 Yr MBA in UK and Europe

Hi,

I am looking to begin my application submissions to various Universities and Business Schools in the near future. Due to the overload of information and vast variety of options available , I was hoping to get some insight from anyone who would kindly share their knowledge/experience.

Please see my current standing below:

- BBA in Management from the University of Toronto
- 2 years work experience in a multinational company (found a job within 3 months of completing my BBA). My work is related to contracts management (so its not exactly what I've studied). This work has been done in the United Arab Emirates.

I am looking to enroll in a 1 year full-time MBA program. I wanted some recommendations as to some good schools (not the top ones) that I would stand a chance to get into with my current education and experience. I'm open to studying at schools in England, Spain, Italy, and Canada (I realize Canada is not in Europe).

My goal is to be able to either find work in the United Arab Emirates or Canada. So I would be looking for a MBA that has international value.

I know many would say get more experience, but I really want to know my options with just the 2 years work experience. The "1 year full-time MBA" requirement is a must.

At the moment, I am still open to actual MBA programs (i.e. Finance, Investment Management, Banking, Risk Management, Asset Management, HR, etc.). Basically, something along these lines.

I would highly appreciate any feedback.

I would suggest using this list (http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/global-mba-rankings-2011). Show the additional field called 'Value' and then sort the list: that should push the one year programmes to the top.

You should take your GMAT, since that's the key variable. You'll have the bare minimum of work experience, and should remember that one year programmes normally have older students with more work experience. Longer programmes fit younger students better because of the internship and in-company projects. If possible, look for programmes with January starts which might have a summer internship.

Thanks for you input.

The main thing is that I don't want to take up 2 years for studying and not be able to work full time during that period.

I do plan on doing my GMAT and realize that it will make a difference in my chances of getting in.

I would actually appreciate any additional input you may have on which areas/fields are experiencing more demand, when looking at the various MBA programs.

The big shifts are macroeconomic: the schools which are rising fast in rankings tend to be keyed into growth areas. Look at placement reports of each school to see where salaries are highest: always consulting and finance. That is where demand is highest.
