English Based MBA in Germany

HI !
My name is Zaid, i'v hold a BS in Civil Engineering. i graduated in 2009 and then went to Scotland to continue studying. Therefore, am currently enrolled in Msc in Management program and expect to graduate this summer. However, iv been thinking to move to Germany since long time ago and am really interested in studying MBA in any German city. so simply what am looking for is:
- MBA, FULL-TIME
- LECTURES IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE !
- A UNIVERSITY ! NOT AN INSTITUTE !
- A CITY UNIVERSITY
- REASONABLE FEES
- FINALLY ! MOST IMPORTANTLY !! I HAVE 1 YEAR OF EXPERIENCE ! THATS IT !

SO !i would really appreciate it if somebody with wider knowledge in that field can help me !!

Finally, does having an Msc in Management can be counted a one year experience or can waive a 1 year experience required by these univ. for MBA admissions ??

Well, what you're looking for is pretty specific. Off the top of my head, you might want to check into Hochschule München. They offer an MBA program in English, with only one year of professional experience required. Not sure about the fees though.

Just a quick suggestion though - like anywhere else, only a year of work experience is going to be a handicap for you. Most good universities want to see at least two years. You may want to think about working for another year before applying to schools.

Thank you ralph for your post, i know what ur speaking about, but the issue is that i prefer to study for the MBA right away cause once i start working again it will be hard for me to go back again and study. therefore, i prefer finishing all the studies required and go ahead for jobs. but even though it may not make sense....anywayz thank you

Magnet, i check the ESMT, they require 3 years of expereince and i blv that if i worked for another 2 more years i wont have the intrest to go back to university, though i would be glad to join it. i think the UK is more suitable for me to study, they ask for less requirements and probably cheaper...anywayz thank you for ur reply. cheeers

Hi All, I have done my Engineering in Biotechnology, however working as a Market research analyst for the Client, the Nielsen Company in Bangalore (India) for 2 years. I am interested in pursuing MBA in Germany and contacted a consultancy and they recommended Georg Simon Ohm institute. Is this a reputed institution in Germany? Is it possible to get a part time job to fund my expenses there. also is it possible to work there after my studies? Kindly advice...

HI there,

I am based in Germany and I have to say that I have never heard of the Georg Simon Ohm Institute. It is part of a Fachhochschule, i.e. it is NOT a real university, but a so-called University of Applied Science (a bit like a commercial college).

If you want to do a good MBA program in Germany, it is impossible to study and work simultanously unless you are doing a part-time program (e.g. offered by HHL).

Thanks very much Johnny. Can you advise me with some of the best universities that has English as medium, and also offers part time MBA program (marketing specialisation if possible!) Does part time MBA programme helps you get placed in any companies there?

Hi there,

Good part-time MBAs are rare in Germany. Mannheim, WHU and Frankfurt, for example, offer full-time MBAs or part-time EMBAs (for senior managers). As far as I know, HHL and Gisma are the internationally accredited schools which offer part-time MBAs.

If you want to get placed in Germany, it is crucial to come from a good school. As I mentioned in several postings before, I would say that Mannheim, WHU, St. Gallen and Goethe form the top group in the German speaking region.

I'm an mechanical engineer from Eastern Europe with three years managerial work experience in a MNC. I speak English and some basic German.

Which German MBA program would you suggest to land a job in management in Germany/Europe?

Definitely Mannheim, St. Gallen (German speaking Switzerland), WHU and Goethe.

There are a several other board threads here about "the best" MBA programs in Germany. General consensus seems to be the best are Mannheim, Frankfurt Goethe and WHU, but there are other strong ones offered in English, too. Two years of experience shouldn't be a dealbreaker for you.
