Hi, can someone please help me understand, why are the top most schools of US willing to let people with 2 years of experience start their MBA through the deferred MBA progam route, while the chances of the same person, applying through the normal route with same 2 years of work ex (essentially 1.5 years at the time of filling the application) so miniscule? Thanks in advance!

People admitted as deferred applicants tend to have one or more of three strengths: they have outstanding academics; they are highly motivated to study at that school, giving them a high conversion rate and yield; they tend to be undergraduate alumni of the parent university, meaning that the school has more intelligence about their fit with the school.
