Hello there,

I am looking to apply to some universities in Germany and France. I am not good at either natives language and hope to take it up with my post graduation.

I am currently looking at Berlin School of Economics and Law & SRH Berlin which are not Universities, also ESC Rennes & Grenoble Graduate Business School among others. I am having second thoughts on the French Universities due to the current situation of France under Hollande and the after course placements.(A friend of mine graduated from GGBS but is now working in Germany. )

A recent listing helped me find the Schiller University which offered very good courses and a chance to go study at their various branches across Europe.

However I cannot find any reviews or threads across the net on this University. Please could I receive any information on this University ...

I think you'd be better off attending traditional universities. The French grande ecoles you are looking at are much better than the German Fachhochschulen. A great French school will be better than a weak German school. But also put the language first. Take a look at Do you need to speak the local language? www.find-mba.com/board/34713

However please clarify the below :

1) is the program at SIU what you call a 'weak' german program?

2) how are the job opportunities in France at the moment ?

3) Studying at GGSB and then getting placed in Germany or any other country for that matter, given the International mobility of the Masters courses at GGSB stands at 47%, wouldn't that be a waste of any and all language skills achieved during the Masters in GGSB?

4) Is it necessary that at a Grand Ecole(say the ESC Rennes), only the Grand Ecole program is of high quality with future prospects or are other Master of Sciences subject to equal quality and placements ?

1. Yes, I don't think that anyone would really rate Schiller as being stronger than a mainstream university.

2. They are pretty good for people who speak French and have degrees from good business schools. Take a look at their placement reports.

3. I think mobility is high at GGSB because of foreign students who come to work in France. Language skills are important there. I don't think GGSB is placing many non-German or non-French people into German. Ask them.

4. A program is French is obviously going to be better (other things being equal) at preparing international students for work than one in English at a school in France, since workplaces there are overwhelmingly francophone. There are good placement data available from the schools.

If language is a hindrance as you speak, would you suggest that a Masters in English speaking countries like UK or Australia will be better ?

Kindly could you suggest some good programs in International Business/Management in the afore mentioned countries ..
