MBA after an LLM
Posted Jun 12, 2015 11:20
Hi guys,
I completed my LLM from a prestigious US law school last year. I am back in my home country but the economy is not so good and thus I am unable to land a job in a law firm. I am doing some consulting and plan to build up my own law office.
I am thinking about doing an MBA now, to fill out my profile now and perhaps develop some skills that I do not have and which I would need to become the owner/manager of a startup law firm.
However, given all of my previous education and also the fact that I did not have the best time in the US, I would rather not do a two year program. But rather I am researching one year MBAs at business schools mainly in Europe such as Insead, Esade, or potentially in the UK like Imperial Cranfield.
Has anybody ever done or considered this? Is this advisable and will it help me meet my career goals?

That seems like a great idea. During my MBA I made the transition into entrepreneurship by becoming a partner in a professional services and then taking it through to a sale. Were I you, I would look at universities that also have top law schools so I could also build a double network in business and law. In the UK that would be Cambridge, Oxford, Edinburgh and Warwick, and in the rest of Europe ESADE, Rotterdam, the Sorbonne-GSU MBA and Trinity.

Thank you for your support and your optimism. I will certainly look into these schools. What do you think of IE Business School?
