Hi peoples,
I guess I should first start off by saying hello to everyone on this board. This looks like a great place for minds to collaborate and share information and I am glad to take part in it.
Now on to my question. What kind of work experience are MBA schools looking for? I have about 10 years, but the majority of those 10 years are not in a managerial position... is this a problem?
Additionally, I have a variety of work experience. At the moment, I am working for the federal government of Canada, and have been doing so for about 8 months (my employment contract expires in August.
Before this, I was employed with the provincial government as a peace officer within the confines of a correctional facility for about 2 years.
And before this, I was employed at a grocery store where, i most notably managed a bulk foods section. This may not seem like much, but this very successful grocery store chain requires future store managers to work in bulk foods for X amount of years before becoming a store manager. I managed this section for probably close to 2.5 -3 years or so.
As you can see, I have quite the variety.
In addition, have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resource Management & Leadership.
Thoughts....
