I am going to be 3 years by October, and by next year Feb only, the pure IT experience will be 3 years. As per my knowledge at the time of application I need to show 3 years? experience. That?s the reason I couldn?t proceed with the MBA applications anymore. As you have mentioned the complete shift will be tough, even I didn?t want to leave technical side fully. I went through some of the courses; some courses like Information systems are mixture of both technical and managerial aspects.

How is the scope and prospects of the above courses in UK?

One more thing I would like to add I am not from IT background  , but since I got an IT job I have been working as a Mainframe software developer. I don?t have much knowledge in anything other than Mainframe (COBOL, JCL, SQL etc.). In City University London ? for e-Business Systems, they have Programming in Java as core module, which was really scary thing for me. Could you please suggest me courses keeping that as well in mind? Just reading the course content it?s tough to assess the future practical experience. Thanks 

There is nothing scary about Java.

I would really think hard about your career goals. An MBA course would most likely focus on management and strategic level skills rather than the more technical aspects. I'd imagine that if you already had some work experience, you'd want to pursue an MBA (rather than that e-Business Systems course, which is an MSc.) The technical stuff is good to have, but I'd think that after three years of working in it, you'd be ready for a higher-level perspective.

Rather than trying to tailor your education to match potential job prospects in the UK - why not think about your own career arc? I'd argue that a general MBA from Cass (or Imperial, Aston, Lancaster, etc.) would be more valuable than a specialized MSc.

Hi ,
Good piece of advice. Since you do not have any formal qualification in IT at your UG level i would not suggest you to opt for a technical course, as you would not find it very useful for your career growth. I would suggest you to opt for a general MBA as it will add value to your current profile and you can seek for employment in Project Management, Business Analyst or some related fields where core IT is not required.
Coming back to your query, some Schools do consider if the quality of work experience is good and if you can demonstrate progression in your career in past.

I have over 2 years of experience as a Business Analyst in India & I am looking forward to do my further studies. I am confused abt doin a MBA or MSc in Business Analysis. I am also preparing for my GMAT.

Could you help me out by giving options that are open to me with respect to MSc in Business Analysis & MBA either in India or UK. It would be great if anyone could provide info of an University in India offering MSc in Business Analysis.

I don't think you'll find an MBA in business analysis in the UK, other than a terrible one designed for Indian students who will return home. In the UK, an MBA is a general management degree. A specialist degree would tend to be an MSc.

Since you already have two years' work experience, and would need only one more for an accredited MBA in the UK, I suggest you take your GMAT and aim for an MBA at one of the top ten UK schools.
