Kind Advice Required on Choosing MBA Course
Posted Dec 06, 2011 20:25
Mr.Duncan, can you please help me out.
I am getting admission for MBA in UWIC and Coventry University,London Campus. Is it worth the money to go for MBA in these universities? And I am also getting admission in MSc Management program of University of Bradford. Which one should I opt for? As I want to work in UK for two three years and then return back to my country,India.
Can I get a job in 4 months after completion of my course?Which according to you is best among above in terms of job prospects?

I would strongly recommend an MSc from an accredited, ranked university like Bradford over a 'freshers' MBA from an unaccredited school.
Four months sounds pretty reasonable to find a job. Take a look at:

You can get some good suggestions by re-reading the first page of discussion on this topic. Pre-experience MBAs are very weak. The ranked MSc programmes will be much better for you:

thanks for the reply sir
but in my country (india) Msc is not taken as a good qualification degree bt in case of MBA it is one of the best option after graduation
and people get good job after MBA, bt in case of Msc it's worthless and has no meaning
that's why im confused !!!
is that
MBA from india is equal to Msc in management from UK???

Well, If you look at the MSc programmes ranked by the Financial Times, you can see that graduates from those MSc programmes earn more than the graduates of almost all Indian MBA and PGDM programmes. The quality of students, educational experience and the opportunities after graduation are much better than in the pre-experience MBA programmes. So, while the MSc degree might not be well known by the people you have spoken to, the companies which recruit from those schools value them highly.
Outside India, almost all MBA programmes are post-experience programmes, aimed at people with three or more years of work experience. The only pre-experience MBAs are aimed at overseas students, especially those from India, and are generally offered by universities which are lower in quality than the average.

The best MSc programmes will be ones with a wide core curriculum, rather than being focussed on one field. The FT-ranked programmes linked to above cover international business management, covering managerial economics, strategy, technology, innovation, finance, accounting and so on.
However, if you want to progress at TCS through a masters degree then look at where MBA level people there have studied: overwhelmingly, they have studied at Indian universities. Otherwise look at the Indian Institute of Management, especially IIM-A, IIM-B and IIM-C.
