MBA vs.CPA

Hello All,

This is my first post in this forum, and I'm seeking your helpful advice.
I'm 28 years old Egyptian who lives in Qatar, I have BSC in Accounting and I'm Certified Management Accountant (CMA) U.S.
I have around 7 years of experience "2.5 of them were in PwC in Financial Accounting Services which was a consultancy job rather than assurance, right now I'm Head of Management Accounting in one of the largest health care service provider in Qatar.
I want to keep developing myself in order to be as competent as possible, as my job is my sole source of revenue.
I was considering doing US CPA vs. MBA from reputable university "I?m considering Manchester Business School Global part time program, Dubai campus".
I'm seeking your advice with regard to:-
1- Which one is more suitable to me meanwhile from a career prospective CPA or MBA, considering the high cost of the MBA that I'm going to pay from my own pocket in comparison to the CPA?
2- In MENA region, does it really worth to pay this money for a UK degree like MBS MBA ? or I should go with lower category MBAs to save some cost as the payback is almost the same?
3- Would such MBA degree give me access to work in other regions like US, UK, Canada or Australia?
4- Which one will help me to find a better job in Australia, if I made the decision to migrate there, US CPA or MBS MBA?
5- In Australia, is it better for me to hold MBA from MBS or I should go with another part time Australian business school? In another word what is the employer preferences, considering the cost associated.

A really good strategy would be to look at the jobs that you want to get and see what the requirements or suggested backgrounds are. In this way, you'll get a sense of what it is that you'll need for your goals.

In general though:

A CPA is much more specialized, so if you're happy in accounting and just want more options in this area, then maybe this is right for you.

An MBA, especially from an accredited university, will give you more leverage if you want to move into more managerial roles, or if you want to move out of accounting.

However, it's probably the case that neither will give you much leverage if you want to move to another country. If your goal is to work in Australia, the best advice is usually to do an MBA in Australia, for instance.

Thanks hipster for your reply.
Actually, the type of jobs that I'm looking for is in Finance where I have most of my experience. But that doesn't mean to be exclusively in Accounting.
Definitely I'd prefer to move to more managerial roles "In Finance" but normally in that type of jobs, they ask for a professional qualifications + MBA.. The main question is do I have to go for a relatively expensive MBA like MBS or I could go for a relatively cheaper one.
On the other hand, if the Australian MBAs are valuable than UK MBAs . why we find too many Australian students enrolled in UK universities?

Well, it's two different things init? Australian students who want to get international experience often go abroad and come back, because this makes their profile more robust.

But for international students whose goal is to move to Australia, an MBA program in the country, especially if its ranked and accredited, can provide the leverage.

It's not just that one is more valuable than the other, it's that they each provide different value.
